Description

Thank you for helping the New York City Hemophilia Chapter raise awareness about bleeding disorders and the importance of self-care, while we also help people with bleeding disorders affected by the earthquake in Nepal!

We will be attempting to set a first-time world record for the LARGEST SELF-CARE LESSON. The attempt will be judged by a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Official Adjudicator.

Participants will set the record by learning about infusion and practicing using a simulated vein.

We need as many people as possible to help us achieve the record – and it’s a great way for the people in your lives to learn a little bit about infusion. Bring parents, grandparents, siblings, friends, teachers - all are welcome.
You don’t have to have a bleeding disorder to participate!

We will also be raising awareness and raising funds to assist families with bleeding disorders who were affected by the earthquake in Nepal. All participants are asked to bring a few dollars - whatever you can afford - to support the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund of Save One Life, a registered nonprofit international organization that offers individuals, families, companies and/or organizations the opportunity to sponsor children or adults with bleeding disorders in developing countries. Our special guest will be Ujjwal Bhattarai. Ujjwal is a founding member and Chairman of Save One Life.He plays a vital role in the sponsorship program in Nepal. He lives in Connecticut with his wife and 14 year old son who has hemophilia. The Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund will be used to help those specifically within the Nepalese bleeding disorder community needing to rebuild their homes, cover medical expenses, and pay for burials and other expenses resulting from this disaster.

Media coverage will be invited, refreshments will be served, exhibitors will be present with information and giveaways, and every participant will receive a souvenir of the attempt.
